To New Users

I appreciate for your interest in Linux.

But if you are new to this O.S., I recommend you read the following:

1.Linux is tiny, robust and powerful operating system. It runs on almost all processors those are
available today. 2.For first time, try tiny linux distributionsŕlike mulinux, dragon linux,…you can find no.of such
distributions on web. Don’t forget to download the documentation for that particular distribution. 3.Don’t expect too much from tiny distributions! They are to test the power of tiny linux kernel 4.In your tiny linux system, explore the commands of the shell you get (use ‘man’ to read
command documentation)and get familiar with basic linux(unix) commands like
ls,cp,rm,fdformat,mke2fs,chkfs,…etc. 5.You can get graphical interface (GUI) in linux using the command ‘startx’.(If ‘xwindows’ is not present in the tiny distribution, this command doesn’t work. For mulinux,it is
available as an ‘addon’) 6.Just explore the system….observe various folders under ‘/’directoryŕlike bin, dev, etc, var,… read the configuration files found in /etc and change parameters and see what happens! 7.Then you can really move on to REAL linux O.S. like Red Hat,Caldera,…etc.
